TTCupdates Dashboard Widget

TTCupdates Dashboard Widget

In an on-going effort to make TTCupdates available in as many ways as possible, I’m happy to announce the first version of the brand-spankin’-new TTCupdates dashboard widget! Available for users of Mac OS X 1.0.4.31 and higher, the TTCu widget waits patiently, updating once a minute2 to provide you with the 20 latest alerts. Now you don’t have to rely on Twitter to receive updates, they can be found right on your desktop!

To get started, download ttcu_widget.zip and save it somewhere you’ll be able to find it later. Your desktop is always a safe bet. Extract the contents of the zip file. There you’ll find the installer for the widget, titled “TTCupdates.wdgt”. Double-click on the installer and follow the prompts to add the widget to your dashboard. That’s it!

So, what are you waiting for? Download the widget now! When you’re done, I’d love to hear all of your thoughts, comments, criticisms, questions and critiques in the comments. What do you like? What can be improved? Let me know!

[1] Sorry, Windows users! Your time will come.
[2] You must close and re-open your dashboard to allow the widget to update.

[1] Sorry, Windows users! Your time will come. <—– so many feelings are coming out. From anger (this will be solved by going downstairs for a drink), to sadness due to the fact that the majority of people on the planet use Windows.

Any chance for a WordPress widget to be available in 2009? (see? I am flexible).

@Miroslav Glavic: Sorry buddy! I’m going to start working on a Windows version in the next couple of days. As for a Wordpress widget — it’s on my list of things to do this year, I promise! ;-)

    Looks fantastic!

    Nice widget Brian!

A suggestion: App should allow users to choose how often the app should check for updates.

    Otherwise, awesome job. Looks great.

    @Aaron: Thanks!

@Justin Kozuch: I’m going to release an updated and improved version of the widget in the coming days and that will definitely be one of the changes I’ll make.

In the meantime, know that the widget only updates when you open the dashboard. If you open your dashboard before the one minute mark, it doesn’t update. If you surpass one minute, it doesn’t update until you open the dashboard again.

    Oh boy.. awesome job Brian.

The only thing I want to get rid of is the “ttcupdates: ” start for both the titles and content

Great job Brian! Love the widgets simple design and clean interface.

One suggestion is I would like to see the time in addition to the date of the update.

Looking forward to the windows version so I can use it at work also :)

@Marc: I’ll be adding the time to updates in the next version. I just finished coding it in, actually ;-)
